New Friends

We arrived in Johannesburg at 5:30 this morning, completing 32+ hours of travel. They let us into Africa! I’m glad, because I wouldn’t have wanted to immediately turn around and go home. We went through customs and immigration, and when we exited the terminal, I noticed a lot of people holding signs. They looked like protesters. We were greeted at the airport by our friends and went to their house to prepare for a church dedication. On our way, I realized that the steering wheel was on the right side of the car, not the left, and vehicles were driving on the opposite side of the road!  CHAOS!

We arrived at the church dedication a few hours later. The music was cool. The choir and congregation sang some African songs. People spoke and sang in a few different languages, including English. I met lots of new friends there. They asked me lots of questions like, “When is your birthday?” “What is your favorite color?” and “How many sisters do you have?” Many of them have African names that I had trouble saying. I introduced them to FableHaven and we ran around and played for a while before returning to our guest house. Tomorrow we head to Kruger National Park where I hope to see a dird, a creature that is part dog and part bird.
